That corrected the problem, but why did a daily update alter the behavior of
the application? I did not change anything myself to cause this to happen. My
end of this is now closed.

I have installed Kate, with no issues...!
For some reason again, it appears that Krita 2.9 or later... is running as a
"Background Process" rather than an "App" in windows...
is there anyway to fix this???
