Just another hint: The Popup say line and column of the error, but not the
file. I thought it might be a source code error message.

Thanks for your hint and help. After editing about 30 descriptions and one
option (without quotes) kphotoalbum lastly started up and after building up the
thumbs and 300 background jobs it was usable again.
