In fact, pressing any character key inputs that character, not just space.
So I would recommend using any keyboard input to "wake up" first then land you
in the password input field.

Raphael raises a valid concern, but I don't think it applies in this case.
When the lock screen is on or the system is asleep, pressing space wakes the
system up *and* enters a space char
