The upgrade to Plasma 5.8.2 helped out a lot. The blank screen and full-screen
distortion doesn't happen any more. (so far) But I still get missing characters

I like my actual linux, i am using Linux mint 17.2 Cinnamon ( = Ubuntu Packages
