Smells like cyr_expire is running. Do you get cyr_expire log entries around
the same time? It needs an exclusive lock while it repacks
have the .seen files in the right place before starting 2.4,
then any indexes upgraded before the .seen files exist will not have any
seen flags set. Further, Cyrus will never check the .seen file again for
those mailboxes.
So - get your seen files in place with the right permissions first. Just
upgrading

problem is that the mailboxes.db contents format is unchanged, but
if you have mailboxes.db itself as a Berkeley DB file, and your Cyrus is
compiled against a different version of Berkeley, then that could cause
problems.
I think following the HOWTO as you plan is the best solution in your

lbox gets changed on the master it will
notice that both ends have had changes, and do a full sync - which is pretty
good at merging the changes. It's not perfect though. Main failure points are
delete vs create of mailboxes, annotations, sieve, subscriptions... the things
which aren'
from the
master, but if you delete them - it assumes that the other end was
the master and you did a forced failover, so it applies the delete.
Basically, it's a partial master<->master. If you went in with an
IMAP client and explicitly deleted a message, that's assumed to mea

search engine into our Cyrus system for fast full-text searches.

In general I would upgrade mupdate master first, then frontends, then
backends. That way the frontends should support anything that the
backend is capable of supporting.

This is what we do at FastMail - quota rejects at the edge using smmapd lookups,
and noquota on the lmtp deliveries internally. Sure the user might
accidentally get
over quota a bit, but it means we never generate bounce emails, so we can't be
used for backscatter in this way.
