o run it on an on-going basis, how often do you run it?
Do you run it out of the cyrus.conf as an event or cron? We use
cron. Does it matter?
Thanks.

Hi,
I apologize for this off-topic question but I think we will all
find this useful. What mailfile size limits do folks support and the
user mailbox quota size? We are being told by some of our users that we
are
6pm and
100MB mailfiles from 6pm to 8am. We also give our users a 200MB mailbox
quota. Please respond directly to me and I'll be happy to summawize for
the list. Thanks.

The first time through I let it run for 15 minutes, the "done" message came
in 81 seconds. Should I of let it keep going? What can I do to prevent
this from happening again? Thanks.

Hi,
Last night we had this happen again on one of our systems. What is the
current thinking as to the cause and/or fix to this problem? I saw one
response last time that said backing off to DB 4.0 would help. Again the
versions of things are:
Sendmail 8.12.8
Cyrus 2.1.11
Berkeley DB 4.1.24
Hi,
This is exactly the same situation I described earlier in the week.

Hi,
Thanks to all who responded with my situation below. Here is what I think
happened.
Sometime late Saturday evening a server started having soft failures on a
memory card. However as a result of the failures syslog messages were
generated that were both stored locally and forwarded onto

Hi,
I have an interesting problem. Over the weekend our syslog forwarder went
beserk generating over 300,000 messages to about 6 people. This morning
our three new Cyrus systems went belly up, (yes that is a technical term),
actually the master daemon seemed to eventually freeze up. The only

Hi,
We are having some difficultly with Eudora 5.2 and attachments. What
happens is that the user gets a mailfile that's supposed to have an
attachment but Eudora doesn't show an attachment. This doesn't happen all
the time, just some of the time. This is with Cyrus 2.1.11 on a Solaris 8

Hi,
The main issues to consider when sizing a mail system are:
- quota per user, and percentage full the "average" user will have their
mailbox, the way they access their mail for reading also matters. You can

Hi Jerome,
I can talk with you about moving from the qpopper type environment
to Cyrus. Meeting for dinner probably works best for me, especially since
there are a number of BOFs I'd like to attend. I'm arriving late
Saturday.. Send me an email so we can setup dinner and lets chat.
