The cyradm tools were written using a quite old version of perl, which didn't
produce a lot of warnings. I expect it's working fine, but your newer perl
version is producing warning

I don't know much about running it in a production capacity, but our test suite
sets up the following for LDAP pts:
imapd.conf:

ptloader_sock: /path/to/some/socket
auth_mech: pts
