What's sync. folder ?

Hi, I would like to know what's the folder inside {partition-default}/sync. I've got some folder and have no idea what's. I understand it's related to synchro between server, but my concerne is I've got some very old folder with lot of email inside. Regards -- Albert SHIH DIO bâtiment 15 Ob
