I'd like to connect to the sieve server from another host.
My cyrus imap serveur is running on meuh.
And sieveshell works very on this host :

have you played with the OperatorChars option in sendmail ?
by default it contains the "+" separator :
O OperatorChars=.:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[]+
try to remove it ...

mail into a sub-folder of this mailbox using a .procmailrc recipe?

my mailbox-format is like
/var/spool/imap/user/testuser^domain^com (unixhierarchysep)
I thought that is the cyrus-mailbox-format or not?
Is it berkley-db?
