The latest feature release Git v1.8.5 is now available at the
usual places. This was actually tagged a few days ago, but I forgot
to send this release notes.
The release tarballs are found at:

A release candidate Git v1.8.5-rc3 is now available for testing
at the usual places.
Regression in the previous rc's on "git blame --literal-pathspecs"
etc. has been fixed.

much change since v1.8.5-rc1; hopefully we can have an uneventful
final release mid next week.
