Is there any way using a git hook to get info on the commit (id,
message), put that in a file, and include that file in the commit?
If I try that in a pre-commit hook I do not get the info on the
current commit. I tried it in pre-receive but it does not seem to get
executed at all.
If I do it in

d work but I agree it might be cumbersome.
In this situation I keep modified files in my tree. That would work for you
too, but this would be inconvenient if you have many changed files. I wonder
how the Git core guys manage this kind of situation.

OK, but where do people fetch this information from?
This
from the outgoing
mail as follows:
(body) Adding cc: Stable (4.8+) from line 'Cc: Stable
(4.8+)'
--snip--
Cc: Stable ,
Larry
g it did not help.
I solved my immediate problem by moving the [4.8+] between Stable and the
starting <. The result is spaced funny, but at least the info is there.
Larry
table
[4.8+]'
That is correct, but the actual Cc list contains
Stable ,
The mangled address is not legal and the mail attempt fails.
Thanks,
Larry
