r to z (
i.e. tar -czf), you will use thegzip program. For zip files, emerge zip and unzip. Since bzip2 is much better thanzip, I rarely use it and don't know how to use it on the shell.2005/5/27, Paul Kain <

The guy is $40 000 in debt while giving us a damn fine distro
*shrug* I think he deserves it. At least the position may assist his debt
Also bear in mind he worked for MS prior to starting on gentoo -> http://research.microsoft.com/~dcr/resume/resume.asp
He at least transferred the copyrighted
axel is your friend
emerge axel
axel "http://url.to.file"
Its best accelerator out there in my most humble opinion
no gui as far as I know though, but you can get it working with the flashget plug in for firefox

How does one view everything that happened at boot ?
I am specifically referring to the messages that say [ ok ] or [ !! ]
I saw errors scroll past me but they were too quick

eth1 is connected to my lan

I have also made a few posts to the list that go unanswered, however I
simply assume that my queries go unanswered due to the nature of them
ie possible hardware problems and not an actual gentoo problem.
There are also various forums which I use such as forums.gentoo.org
and www.net-forums.net
not at all.
Normally you should your conformation email within minutes, if not seconds.
It was pretty quick for myself.
you can try emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED]

/sbin/ifconfig ppp0 mtu 1352
or 1392 whatever tickles your fancy
If you wish your mtu to be set when booting up do the following :
cd /etc/ppp/
fire up vim or your favourite editor and edit pppoe.conf
go all the way to the bottom and add this line
mtu="1352"
save.
