So I was thinking Gentoo, optimized for PII, I guess -Os would be a
good option for this little machine. Any thoughts anyone?
What about the desktop? I guess Gnome or KDE is not really the best

Hi!
I have a laptop with lots of documents, plus, I am writing lots of
documents. When I'm working with these files, I stop after every 2 to 4
hours of work to save the changes, copying the updated files on a
external hard drive. I also send them to two e-mail accounts (gmail and
yahoo).

2Gb is the entire documents directory. I just want to e-mail the altered
ones (in fact, the total attachment size is no greater than 200 Kb)
I'll see what Kmail can do. Thanks again.

Hi. I have a small database (100 tables) in firebird and want to migrate SOME
data of it to a postgresql database. The latter database serves to a different
purpose, so I just have to migrate specific columns of specific tables from the
former database.
Is there any app that can do that job? If

I have Skype installed on my HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop, but the sound
doesn't work.
When speaking, the person I'm talking with can listen to me without
problems.
But then that person speaks with me, I hear some cracks, but no voice.
I'm running skype under KDE 3.5.2, and arts has full-duplex

Sorry about that. I won't do this again.
As far as skype problem goes, try enabling 'Full Duplex'.. It can be
accessed under
Control-Center->Sound & Multimedia->Sound System->Hardwar
Anyway i suggest you
try WengoPhone.. It's open source and is based upon open standards.. I'm
using it, the sound quality is better than Skype.. Check out their
website http://openwengo.org.. Gentoo even has a ebuild for it in
portage (net-im/wengophone)..

Thanks a lot for you

The solution is simple: Don't use arts. You can also open the

Did you try to change the video driver (in mplayer preferences menu)?
I've got into the same problem, and solved it by changing to

My DVD playback is pretty bad.

chmod 777 /path/to/something
Thanks a lot, it worked as you said.
It will be retained on the next mount.
I thought this wouldn't happen, so I made this noob question.
Thanks again.
