Ok, I think this problem occurred during the last gnome update. When cfg-update

Hello,
I'm working on upgrading a very old Gentoo system for my work.
Some software is only running well in 2.4.x kernels, and when doing other
updates I inadvertently updated past glibc-2.3.5, and so now the 2.4 kernel
does not boot (Fatal error, kernel too old). Fortunately there is a 2.6

In addition to other troubles, my X server won't start under any

My actual video is on the motherboard and is an ATI Rage XL chipset (I
think that uses the drvier r128?)
My current worry is that "startx" fails quickly, reporting no screens

A couple of things when you reboot into the live cd you need to tell mdadm
to assemble the drive /dev/md3 with the command mdadm -A /dev/md3 /dev/sda3
/dev/sdb3. As for the booting problem i think it may be that you are missing
a driver did you put the md raid 1 driver into the kernel. Last Neil ha
