This may be a stupid question, but is your USB support enabled in your kernel?  Certain types of support are not enabled by default.  If you like, send your laptop model and make so I can see which type you'll need to compile in. I need to make a change in the code for a gentoo package (pgcalc2) to check whether it corrects a problem. If I simply download it with emerge -f pgcalc2, make the correction and then try to finish the emerge, it will fail the md5 check. How can I do this? Tony -- Those who would give up ess
