Thanks for the clarification. The reason is as you say that dev-java/sun-jdk:1.6 is a binary package that isn't ABI compatible with libstdc++.so.6 (from gcc-4.x). And as we don't have the source we cannot fix that with revdep-rebuild. But I'm already running sun-jdk on my machine that I manual

Why does sun-jdk needs gcc-3.3.6 and and libstdc++-3.3? As I understand sun-jdk-1.6.0.01 is a binary package, and java works just fine if downloaded and installed from Sun site, without portage. Since I don't have enough disk spac fro another gcc, is it possible to somehow let portage handle sun-
