It was probably the wpa_supplicant update, see bug 320097 on bugs.gentoo.org. Just had this problem myself this morning, you can fix it by using the ebuild provided in the bug or by downgrading wpa_supplicant (which had 0.7.2 hardmasked today). Hope this helps!
