If so, I like using Ark, as Paul pointed out; It is really simple and
support a large array of archive types.
If not, using the tar command on a shell can be faster.
To do so:
tar -cjf archive.tar.bz2
Creates a bzip2 archive
tar -xjf archive.tar.
