This may be a stupid question, but is your USB support enabled in your kernel?  Certain types of support are not enabled by default.  If you like, send your laptop model and make so I can see which type you'll need to compile in. List members - I am trying to use a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse with my gentoo based laptop. When I try to boot into linux the cordless receiver is never enabled. After doing some research on google it appears that the easiest solution is to use a USB to PS2 adapter for the usb connect
