[gentoo-user] KDM - KDE root problem

Hi, I'm new to gentoo..I have just emerged KDE and it works fine, but I can't log with the root account from kdm, or either create a root account in a console using 'su'. How could I solve this? Another thing is that even I changed to runlevel 4 in /etc/inittab it keeps loading with runlevel 3. 10x
