Happy New Year All,
I hope you all had a happy holiday. Oddly enough, this e-mail isn't to

Hi,
Recently, I cleared out some "gentoo-user" e-mail from Firefox and now
it seems that Thunderbird is automatically deleting any gentoo-user
e-mail when it arrives in my inbox. The address is still in my personal
address book, but not in my collected address so, I'm not sure what is
going on.
Hi,
Ever since the last time Thunderbird was updated when I synced, the
process does not die when I shut down Thunderbird. I have to kill it
before I can start up Thunderbird again. Is anyone else experiencing
this problem. Thought I would ask here before I complained to the
Mozilla folks.

Hi all,
Please read this carefully. Don't take offense, I'm not insinuating
that you wouldn't. It's just that I don't want to get myself into more
of a pickle than I'm in! ;-(
This morning as I was getting my son off to work, he got me upset about
something and I walked over to my laptop and i
Hi everyone,
I'm having a heck of a time trying to get wireless going on my laptop.
I've tried so many things, I'm a bit dizzy and don't know where I've
gone right or wrong.
First things first. lspci shows my wireless hardware as:

Hi,
I have a situation that, before, kind of bugged me but I was able to
deal with it. However, now I've added another wrinkle to the situation.
I have a usb external hard drive attached to my computer. It's an
Iomega and has a power switch. In fstab it is /dev/sdc1 and /dev/sdc2
because I've

No, Denis *did not* write it Colleen did and I still think so, but

It's a subjective point of view. I've not had the frustrations with ATI
that I've had with nvidia. But to each his own, right?

Hi all,
I hate freakin' nvidia!!!
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. I'm an ATI girl and I've
never encountered the problems that I have with this damn laptop and
it's nvidia card. Heck, I even got X working just fine when I took the
hard drive out of my old computer and put it in the
Hi,
On my laptop, I did an update world. One of the programs that the
update wants to install is 'sip'. I connect to my mirror and then the
mirror goes out to www.riverbankcomputing.com, but gets a 404 error.
Anyone else seen this issue? I know what a 404 error is. Would
changing mirrors help

ifconfig -a shows the device just fine. And for what it's worth, I
rebuilt dhcpcd while I was in the chroot'd environment.

Hi,
I was having trouble with my desktop and couldn't get it to boot. There
were some files on the hard drive that hadn't been included in my last
backup that I wanted. On a lark, I took the hard drive out of my
desktop (built by me) and put it into and old Dell Optiplex GX100 that I
have. Yes,

Hi guys,
I know I'm like a bear with a thorn in it's paw, but this is driving me
nuts. I've tried the suggestions provided in response to my posts on
this list, but I still can't play audio CD's. I posted to the alsa-user
list and got a response. I'm posting some of that here because although
