After every boot I have to set the clock back to Eastern Standard Time. I
have set the /etc/localtime to point to /usr/share/zoneinfo/EST5EDT
/etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/EST5EDT
but I keep getting this message at boot,

This happens when you are using the serial console. To get rid of those
messages, comment out all lines under "# TERMINALS" in /etc/inittab and
execute "telinit q". There should be six lines from c1 to c6.

I just installed Gentoo kernel 2.4.27 on a sparc64 and I am getting this
message:
INIT: Id "c0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
just about every 5-7 minutes. Any ideas how to get rid of it?
