I think the concern is in a sense valid, but this particular proposal
doesn't seem to stand out for me in that regard.
On one level, Apache is about individual contributions. Having said
that, I wonder what would become of Apache if all corporate support of
committers' activities were banned.

Bill made a statement, which though rather neutral and ambiguous,

I think the 'Known Risks' section in the proposal enumerates that

I don't know why anyone would take exception to it be included in the
Incubator. It seems like a good fit, as long as the stated known risks
are addressed during incubation. My statements were m

I'm really confused where this is coming from. The goal of incubation is
to generate sufficient diversity in contributions

I would take that so far as to treat it as a bug, place an issue in
JIRA to that effect, and schedule a date/version for the issue to be
resolved. This will remind eve
I'm looking forward to a vote on this proposal.
I've read the thread and I think it's good to know **up front** that
there are going to be corporate contributions, not just from one
corporation.

Whilst I agree it has been discussed and understood I'm still trying to
understand what the issue being raised is. A bunch of the initial committees
are already ASF Members, the proposal does not talk of the initial backers
other than in tue ways required by the proposal process and we make it c
That was discussed a few times in the past month while we were working on the
proposal.
I believe that's fairly clear to everybody. The project starts with code grants
from the organizations mentioned.

Keep in mind that only
The silence could mean that everyone hates the idea of this project, but
I'm gonna take it to mean that there is simply nothing to complain
about, and that everyone is giving their silent consent, and we should
soon proceed to a vote :-)
