For the source release checked:
- incubating in names
- signatures and hashes correct
- disclaimer exists
- NOTICE is OK (but has some extra text that could be removed)
- LICENSE is OK. It includes jQuery and bootstrap but these don’t seem to be
bundled and can be removed?

Gently reminder for the IPMC about this vote.

Stephan,
What you suggest should work (if you add another dependency to provide the
needed classes).
You have to be careful, however, because your consumers may expect to get
the full json.org API.
I would suggest that exclusions like this should only be used while your
direct dependency still h
eBay legal has already reviewed this name before open source to github, there's

It may be how GitHub works but it is IMO against release policy especially as
on their site they link to GitHub and not the Apache release area.
Thanks,

Hmm thought I voted +1 already
RE Julian's concerns - the artifact includes "incubating" so that passes
the incubator requirement. The requirement doesn't say that it has to
include it in the pom's version.

Understood. There's a discussion on legal-discuss you may want to join in
on. The current ruling is that you would have until April 30 2017 to
remove the dependency.

The Apache ManifoldCF project got an official Legal ruling on the json

And Apache Groovy also has some great JSON support as well, with a super
fast parser, and serializer as well.

Just to be on the safe side:
If project X depends on another project Y that uses json.org (and thus
project X has json.org as a transitive dependency) is it sufficient to
exclude the transitive json.org dependency in the reference to project Y?
Something like that:
org.apache.hive.hcatalog
is that library able to deal with the jdk9 module system?
