Now that Henry is a member, I would like this proposal to reflect that he
has really been the primary champion, not me. I am looking forward to
staying on as a mentor, but Henry has been the driving force in getting
MetaModel organized and proposed. I am more than willing to champion this
project
Hello,
This is the second release candidate for Apache jclouds 1.6.1-incubating,
the first jclouds release at Apache.
The PPMC has approved the release at this point, so this is an IPMC vote.
It fixes the following issues:

Extremely enthusiastic +1!!!
If you ever need help with mentorship -- please let me know.
Also, looking forward to seeing this in Bigtop!
Thanks,
Roman.

Added Noah Slater (nslater at apache dot org) as mentor and initial

Spark it is an execution framework, but it also provides some high level
APIs which makes it much easier to do data analytics.
For example, to do grep like queries:
val docs = sparkContext.textFile("hdfs://...")
docs.filter(doc => doc.contains("Berkeley")).count
Another example to do word count
I believe it is more of a framework but you can take a look at Shark which
using Spark to do data warehousing that support hive query (

Awesome! Looks like perfect match too!
Can I also add you as initial contributors?

Wow! I have been using Shark, which runs on top of Shark, with Mesos in our
prototype for API analytics for a while and would LOVE to help as mentor
and initial contributors.

Great news!
Definitely +1 (non-binding, I guess) on adding Spark to the family
of ASF project!
I also express the interest to contribute to the project and move it forward
to the graduation! Bigtop has been packaging and providing Spark as a part of
Hadoop 1.x software stacks for some time; and h
+1 (non-binding)
This seems like a really interesting project.
Q- Is Spark just a framework/API or does it also have some tools implemented
for data analytics?

Guys, I've added: Thomas Dudziak as a mentor to the proposal
at his request. He is a member of the ASF and should be granted
IPMC access soon.
Cheers,

Hi Folks,
I'm pleased to bring you a proposal to the Apache Incubator for the Apache
Spark project: https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/SparkProposal
The work originates from the Berkeley AMPLab and through a number of
industry
participants, and other institutions. Spark is a framework for large-sc
Ok, I've pushed changes that'll deal with the issues I mentioned below.
I'll wait another couple hours to see if anyone has any more feedback
before cutting the next RC, but I'm canceling the vote on this RC for
obvious reasons. =)

One note - looking at the docs and other projects, it seems we should in fact
be using the standard Apache NOTICE, not our previous one with the additional
qualifiers, so I'll switch that. I still need to address the tarball names, the
duplicate license in cli, the missing license and notice in
Looks like jclouds-cli has a LICENSE.txt in its root dir in git as well as the
one the remote resources plugin inserts. I'll clean that up. I'll dig into labs
and see why it's not getting the license and notice it should.

Just an observation:
jclouds-cli-pom-1.6.1-incubating-source-release.tar.gz root has 2 LICENSE files?
LICENSE and LICENSE.txt
jclouds-labs-1.6.1-incubating-source-release.tar.gz root is missing
LICENSE/NOTICE ?
