Threre is another propblem with swig:
currently, there are 3 methods (defined in swig\include\gdal.i) in the version that get GDALDatasetShadow** parameter:
wrapper_GDALWarpDestDS(...)
wrapper_GDALWarpDestName(...)
wrapper_GDALBuildVRT_objects(...)
swig generated the methods in c# w
