It looks like these changes will be going into the next release of the

Following Even's suggestion, I tried it out on a Sentinel2 data set.
Good news:
1) 14 tiles per second decod
OK, trying to simplify this, can anyone tell me if file locking is an issue
in this process? I am starting with a raster layer, and then want to run the
following in turn on it:
1. QgsRasterPipe.writeRaster()
2. processing.runalg("gdalogr:warpreproject")
3. processing.runalg("gdalogr:translate"

Sadly I have no knowledge of Perl.
If its "Geo::ShapeFile" module uses the same C# GDAL bindings (or is based on
them), then I might try to take a look at your Perl code.
If not, then I guess I can not make use of it.
