ogr2ogr -segmentize max_dist:(starting with GDAL 1.6.0) maximum
distance between 2 nodes. Used to create intermediate points . Mmight
do what you want.

I have 30,000 geo-stationary satellite images. I have referenced a couple
of them using QGIS and I have generated a 'gdal script' containing GCPs but
when I try to call the GetGCPs from python, it returns 0 so that means I
cannot geo-rectify the rest of the images using the GCPs.

sometime the dbf of shapefile have mixed charset inside it.
