FYI, some 4 years ago, I reported an XML schema validation error related to the element: http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/2858. IIRC, the explanation at the time was that there are some limitations with the kml driver and "the real solution is to switch to libkml..." Hermann On 2013-05-0
