I don't know how you got to this point at all. GNU Java currently is not
supported on AIX.

well, indeed I used
../gcc-4.0.2/configure --prefix=/usr/local/gcc402 --enable-threads=aix
--disable-nls
--enable-shared --with-cpu=powerpc
--with-gcc-version-trigger=/usr/local/build/gcc-4.0.

I don't know that many people who build the java front-end on AIX.
Make sure that you use --enable-languages=
