Uros, the code you generate has a double-rounding error.
You can generate code inline if you have access to SSE2,
by converting the pieces to DFmode and then truncating
to SFmode

With Sun as, the testcase fails, with GNU as, it passes. On IRIX 6.5,

If you use my command line and just supply any random object files
for the ones specified it should reproduce I think.
If not i'll upload my builddir, but it's large.

1) Line 2026 contains the expression
(p < buff + sizeof buff - 1)
GCC only looks at local tuple stmts when emitting the warning, so I suppose
it sees sth like
p = &buff[...];
