maybe this is some fallout from the toplevel-bootstrap patch...
I configured current mainline with
$SRCDIR/configure --quiet --prefix=$DESTDIR --enable-languages=c++,fortran
--with-gmp=/usr/local/appl/gmp-4.1.4 --enable-checking=release
and the bootstrap stopped at
make[2]: Entering dire
