I need a little help diagnosing a problem booting a 5.1-RELEASE SMP kernel.
The GENERIC kernel boots just fine. When I boot a GENERIC kernel with SMP
enabled the boot fails early in the boot process. The text from the
console is below:
Programming 16 pins in IOAPIC #0
IOAPIC #0 intpin 2 -> irq
I'm hoping this will be a simple question to answer, so here goes.
Whenever I try to mount a cdrom I get the following:
borges[141]% sudo mount -t cd9660 /dev/acd0 /cdrom
cd9660: /dev/acd0: Device busy
I tried a umount -f just to see if some process was hanging on to it for

I tried soliciting ports@ and questions@ for answers to these questions,
but no answers were volunteered which leads me to believe that these
issues may be specific to -current. I'm hoping someone can give me a
clue as to what the problem is or at least give me a pointer (have

It is repeated indefinitely and I can't kill -9 the

I'm trying my luck anyways.
I used to listen to MP3s (using xmms) while burning CDs (using
cdrecord) and it used to work fine on -stable.
Now on 5.0-release, the music gets *slw* as soon as the massive I

drive and I'm finding it impossible to work with. First, I installed ripit so that I
could convert a couple CD's to mp3's. This fails with:
dagrab: read raw ioctl failed at lba 0 length 12: Input/output
