I'm used to seeing fatal traps 1, 11 and 12, but 3 is a new one to me.
Before I go digging into code to try to find out what's wrong, could
someone *briefly* explain what a "fatal trap 3: Breakpoint instruction
fault" is? I don't want to waste a lot of time on a hardware problem...

OK; I finally got a few consecutive minutes to look over fsck as of
today's -CURRENT.
In replying to different message, I had earlier reported what some others
noted a couple of days ago: that not all of the filesystems are checked
at boot (only 2 are), and experimentation demonstrated that in "
(Excuse the size of the e-mail; small, one-line patch is at the end.)
On some occasions, sysinstall can be persuaded to follow a NULL
pointer. This particular bug is actually not so straight-forward that
many people would run into it, but it seems I always do :-/ (I've had

(4.3-BETA). I followed the instructions in the UPDATING file, but ran into
a persistent problem when trying to compile the kernel after a successful
buildworld. The kernel compilation dies while making the modules at
