In my experience, this is a sizing issue.
If you enter "edit mode" and widen the calendar display, the problem will disappear.
I have encountered the same issue on days where there are overlapping
numbers, e.g. 31/1. Again, "edit mode" -> widen the display
will correct the problem

If I replace the edjs with the "JusNum" ones and restart e, the bug
doesn't occur (but the numbers appear in a different font,

with debug support. My E17 was last updated today per gentoo-emerge. It
was all correctly installed.
