When compile the large applications (libreoffice, Firefox, chromium and
others) in terminology on my FreeBSD with e17 0.17.0,2 and EFL 1.7.4, I
have the segfaults too.
P.S.: The terminology is very cool. Congratulations developers ;-)

I disabled show splash screen on login (menu settings > settings panel >
look > startup ) and is allright. No more delay on start.
Runing in freeBSD 9.1-rc and enlightenment 0.16.999.65643.
I testing in pcbsd 9.1 too and is ok too.
