well i was more getting to e crashing BECAUSE dbus dameon crashed (ie while e
is up - dbus daemon goes down). e should start just fine without a dbus daemon
(you may lose a few features). it should also not crash just because dbus did.

One common thing that might link all of the following symptoms is if the
dbus session actually crashed or exited. Then no kde program will be able to
open. skype and java apps are not using dbus. e does use dbus. I am not sure
if google-chrome also uses dbus.
