You've got an old install of AVcodec. AVcodec is a part of FFmpeg. Just
upgrade to the latest version and your good.
Btw, if your using Gentoo you'll need to specify the ebuild, since just
doing an emerge of FFmpeg gives you an older version.

I found a minor thing here...
Reproducing the bug:
1. insert a broken symlink on /usr/share/applications (mine was
distccmon-gnome.desktop)
2. run E (I ran it as a first time user)
3. see that the menu doesnt get generated
4. run E from terminal
5. ask it to regen menus and watch the warning c
