I built epplets from CVS, after installing glut-devel.
The epplet drawing problem is no longer present!
Epplets no longer show up in the window list when using ALT-TAB!

Perhaps the problems are indeed caused by older/ancient
epplets. It appears I am running Epplets-0.5 buit from the
sources posted on sourceforge.
I have not found an RPM of later versions that will install, the newer
ones I found/tried, were asking for (libImlib.so.1 is needed by
epplets
