I only see the wallpaper and mouse, usually can move the mouse, and I can't do
anything else.
Sometimes system resume operation after few minutes, sometimes not.

I've just had an email from someone who has reproduced this on a thinkpad x30.
My understanding is that Jesse has confirmed this and has access to x40
hardware now.
