I will point out that using Electron's API would mean an easy onramp for
developers using Electron today. There are more than a few, and the list is not
shrinking. That seems worth > 0.

I think it would be best to think of this kind of API as a sort of light
"scraper" that crawls through a collection of known in-the-wild patterns to
provide a good-enough answer.
