Hi,
just suggesting an alternative, I'm using wpa_supplicant (wifi daemon) in
combination with wpa_actiond (daemon that waits for connect events and
executes a shell script on connect/disconnect/reconnect). wpa_actiond is
developed by the arch linux community, so it might not be comfortable on

I use the default desktop environment for Ubuntu right now because
things don't freeze there. I can check again probably tomorrow and get
back to all of you with more detail about the problem. I was sort of
hoping it was a common thing, guess not. Maybe it is just Wicd and I
should find another
Wmii was still acting up or everything was fine? 'It' is ambiguous.

I'm not in the position to try right now but I tried yesterday and yes,
it didn't work when Wicd was closed, though it is possible that the Wicd
server was running in the background.

Does the same thing happen when you're not using wicd?
I'm using wmii with Ubuntu and everything was fine at first. I wanted to
get wireless working so I installed Wicd. Now every few seconds the
whole thing freezes up for a few seconds. I can move the mouse and
access Mod-a in order to 'quit', and I haven't tested what else I can
do, but the open

Sometime the screen is erased and rewrited with the same text
You would keep the selected text selected. It makes no sense to select some
text, have some output causing the buffer to move, and have text you didn't
want selected be selected.
What the API should look like? Which features?
I was thinking of something like this:
* term_ function prefix
* first parameter is the term context
* non blocking io (ie. returns when there's nothing to process)
* use a dirty flag on glyph (or even on lines) to speed up drawing
* scrollback buffer
yeah, let's get rid of the ugly x11 dependency and replace it with a
hideous mesa dependency

I really like the idea of there being an OpenGL (maybe OpenGL ES)

Back in an old thread on st goals, there was some good discussion of
modularizing the terminal emulation part of st to allow the attachment
of other, non-xlib-based front-ends. I don't see it on the goals wiki
page, but I'm interested in helping with this goal if others are in
agreement with it. I

This is correct. There's no scrollback buffer at the moment.
