I use the default desktop environment for Ubuntu right now because things don't freeze there. I can check again probably tomorrow and get back to all of you with more detail about the problem. I was sort of hoping it was a common thing, guess not. Maybe it is just Wicd and I should find another

I'm not in the position to try right now but I tried yesterday and yes, it didn't work when Wicd was closed, though it is possible that the Wicd server was running in the background. -Eitan

I'm using wmii with Ubuntu and everything was fine at first. I wanted to get wireless working so I installed Wicd. Now every few seconds the whole thing freezes up for a few seconds. I can move the mouse and access Mod-a in order to 'quit', and I haven't tested what else I can do, but the open

You would keep the selected text selected. It makes no sense to select some text, have some output causing the buffer to move, and have text you didn't want selected be selected.

What the API should look like? Which features? I was thinking of something like this: * term_ function prefix * first parameter is the term context * non blocking io (ie. returns when there's nothing to process) * use a dirty flag on glyph (or even on lines) to speed up drawing * scrollback buffer

Back in an old thread on st goals, there was some good discussion of modularizing the terminal emulation part of st to allow the attachment of other, non-xlib-based front-ends. I don't see it on the goals wiki page, but I'm interested in helping with this goal if others are in agreement with it. I
