Just a reminder to backport any issues one sees fit for a 8.11.3 release.
I'll try to get an RC out by the end of September, so still more than a
week away.

Hi Jan,
Yes, still targeting September. But I will slip on my initial plan of doing
it by first week of September. I'm foreseeing mid September timeframe.
Thanks for checking in.

Hi,
Following up on Ishan's proposed 8.11.3 release

Does the Lucene project have any bugfix candidates for backporting?
Ishan, are you still targeting September?

Thanks for volunteering, Ishan!
I wonder if it's worth it porting the 8x codeline into our build
infrastructure for 9x? i.e. use our existing Gradle build instead of Ant.
This way subsequent releases would be easier (if needed), would be easier
for anyone maintaining a fork of 8x, and we needn't
Am I correct that a potential 8.11.3 release cannot contain known CVEs? If so,
we cannot release without carefully plugging all CVEs plugged in 9.x. Some of
those may not be a simple backport, such as Jetty, netty etc, due to jar hell.
Have you identified blockers in jira?

Hi all,

I thought of volunteering for such a 8.x release based on this comment [0].
Unless someone has any objections or concerns, can we tentatively plan 1st

Hi,
there is no code for the build job, it is just a plain stupid Jenkins
job executing the follwoing command (see log output of last build):
[solr] $ /home/jenkins/tools/ant/apache-ant-1.8.4/bin/ant -file build.xml
-Dlucene.javadoc.url=https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Lucene/job/Lucene-Artif
I tried building 8.11.x recently via solr-bench and found that restlet
dependency wasn't available. In case that was not a temporary thing and you
run into that issue, please open a JIRA issue about it.

That's understandable. Thank you. I guess I would need to build it myself
anyway (the other alternative is to wait for some critical vulnerability fix
that would trigger a new release I guess). I would gladly grab a -SNAPSHOT
build/nightly release but you don't seem to provide those for 8.x, rig

Hey,

new features being developed for 8.x but certain bug fixes are being
backported. At least I see a bunch of them done by Kevin Risden ([1]). My
