I'm awaiting eagerly the Maven 3 introduction of attribute based POMs called
for by MNG-3397. Still, I think a lot more can be done to improve, for lack
of a better term, the fluency maven's language.

We can create a new interface then if we want to retain the behavior
of the original component (which is fine) but we need to move this
toward resolving the tree and operating on that. Primarily to start
making a real bridge to plug in Mercury properly.
