Why is such version transformation done at all? What's the reasoning behind it?
Is this documented somewhere? Usually, you would expect that your pom remains
unchanged.

Honestly, I think the lines:
${gpg.passphrase}
need to be taken out of the config for the gpg plugin. I think that will end
up conflicting with other settings. (like using an agent which is what I do)

I didn't realize how horrible this was until i attempted to stage the
apache pom. I emailed the infra team and i suggest others follow that
thread as well. IMO the apache svn is now fundamentally broken.

Thanks for filing this. It seems like the issue is related to a new
interpolation step that takes place to transform version expression
references in things like dependencies just before a POM is deployed. It
looks like the profile information got caught in the crossfire.

when using site:stage. The regular site generation seems to work fine, so I
re-generated the site and deployed to apache, and it looks ok in the queue. The
updates should take effect in a little while.
