Idealy, the classloaders should be separate and the plugins should get what they
ask for - nothing more, nothing less.
Things like Maven and Tomcat that force certain versions of dependencies on
users are a pain in the butt when they conflict. ie commons-* :)

I won't be around to help. If nobody volunteers, I suggest you dump it to HTML
(Ben did this for me once) and someone stick it under either docs.codehaus.org
or maven.apache.org, where we can migrate it to piece by piece.
Cheers,
Brett

With the release of Maven 1.0 (rock on, Brett!), I noticed that

decommissioning that machine, and MoinMoin, since we've got a new box
and Confluence now.

My 2 cents:
Dependecy on maven is quite similar to dependecy on servletapi.
In both cases you need to have "spec" jar in order to compile your code
against it, but at the runtime
the functionality which is needed should be provided by environment. Servlet
SPEC even says "no" for bundling a jar

Guys,
I'm curious to know why you don't consider it a good idea to have a set of
dependencies defined in mavenhome/lib for the plugins? The plugins are
depending on Maven anyway.
Thanks
