Hello,
I have had a talk with Volkan over the topic and felt that I did not explain my
cause very well.
I would like to try again.

AsciiDoc offers syntax for most of the things that Markdown requires you to use
raw HTML for. Also, the default output format for AsciiDoc looks a lot nicer
than Markdown, but that’s always customizable.

I don’t mind AsciiDoc but I have had a few things I couldn’t format with
AsciiDoc. I am not really sure why AsciiDoc is preferred over Markdown. The
only problem I have had with Markdown is that some tools don’t support some of
the latest features.

Infra supports publishing any sort of site output as long as it’s published via
committing to either subversion or git. For git, this is via the normal
asf-site and asf-staging branches similar to ghpages branches on GitHub. Since
we can set up GitHub Actions to commit to those branches, we can
Great initiative to revamp the Logging Services landing page! Go for it!
But don't change JBake and stick to AsciiDoc, please.
*Summary:*
1. JBake is great, reproducible, and familiar
2. "INFRA support" is not a valid argument
3. Markdown is a dead end
4. The future should ideally not

Rob,
It looks like you are a PMC member of Commons as well as an ASF member. Given
that, if you are interested in committing to and supporting Chainsaw I would
happily vote to give you Logging Services commit privy.

Gentlemen, Im hoping we can get project chainsaw launched off at NASA on the
coming months. If I can just keep my foot in the door there and maybe climb a
few stairs, I think NASA might just want it ;-), but Im going to need a few
weeks to see if we can get up those stairs.
Nonetheless, I hope

The actual build is then done by GitHub Actions. And yes, I consider it a lot
simpler to run one docker command (I even have a shell script
Hmm, and how much disk space do you need for that image?

Personally, I hate all these tools. I picked JBake simply because I could
figure out how to run it with a simple Maven command.
I really don’t see how you can make it any simpler by changing the tooling. If
you look at the instructions they are all git commands except for “mvn install”.

I like this idea. I’m less experienced with any of those tools, but I do use
Jekyll for my own blog and some random GitHub page websites.

Hello,
the current landing page:
https://logging.apache.org/
is done with JBake. We have rather complicated instructions on how to
re-generate the landing page:
