My experience related to FOAF files:
I didn't know about local mentors and FOAF until I visited community
development web site. I've tried to add, but that time it didn't work, so I
gave up.

If we had a laptop at the table at Apache con we could ask if people are
committers and if so see if they are listed. If not ask if they would
submit the FOAF file.
