A vote is normally at least 72 hours, but it can be shorter if announced in
advanced, for a security fix for example.
I do not see a problem with saying that the additional binding vote counts.
You can send another vote result email.

Hello Oliver,
Sorry that it took me so long.
+1 for this release. The problems with Java 1.6 have been resolved. Good
work!
When building with Java 9 EA the build fails. I think we need to
investigate this for all our components soon.

A -1 does not block a release.
All I ask is for this oddity unique to this build to be documented properly
in the download. I am AFK so I am not sure if we even have a BUILDING.txt
in the root of the src zip, which where I look for this kind of
information. Or in the RELEASE-NOTES.txt.

And what would make the big difference to adapted documentation on the side?
Gary, I fail to understand your motivation. In the past you
I would support another RC that clearly documents what the requirements are
for different parts of the build.
Then IMO we should switch trunk to Java 7.

Either ’a’ or ‘b’.
I’m all for anything that makes releasing easier.
+1 for requiring java 1.7 or 1.8 to build site
+1 (in general) for requiring java 1.7 or 1.8 to build artifacts, even if
project is targeted to 1.6, 1.5, etc.

Hi all,
after the failed votes for RC1 and RC2 a new RC has been created. There
has been further tweaking of the checkstyle configuration to solve build
problems on Java 1.6.
Configuration 2.1 RC3 is available for review here:
