Seems a good ol' "sudo alsa force-reload" with the headphones plugged in
solves it, albeit until reboot.

I tried to compile 2.9.1 yesterday, and the bug was still there, but it
seems to be fixed in the latest git (7ea21d7 at time of compilation).
Banshee loads and plays music, but then there's a whole slew of other
issues (a story for another bug report).
